This 2200-gallon tanker was built on the department’s existing International 4900 Series chassis. The old stainless steel tank and body was removed and replaced by this aluminum body/Poly-Tank combination. The body was built to accommodate the departments equipment storage needs. There is a double compartment ahead of the rear wheels, and a single compartment at the drivers side, high side and the passenger side, high side is equipped with three (3) large compartments approximately 12” deep. At the rear there are three (3) stainless steel dump valves. The side valves are controlled with a handle on the rear panel of the apparatus and they also have stainless telescoping chutes. The rear dump is equipped with an aluminum diamond plate flip down extension chute. The customer’s portable pump was mounted on the rear step of the apparatus and plumbed to the tank with a 3” tank to pump and a 2-1/2” tank fill. The plumbing was installed using cam-lock fittings for quick removal of the pump for filling if needed. There are two (2) 2-1/2: direct tank fills at the rear with one (1) each side of the dump valve. All valves used were Akron quarter turn valves. At the rear panel there is a Class 1 Intelli-tank water level gauge. The lighting on the apparatus was brought up to NFPA standards by installing Code 3 low-level intersection flashers under body lights, and step lights. New Weldon 7” taillights were installed along with 12-volt scene lights, and a Federal Signal master on the rear panel. Realwheels stainless steel wheel covers were installed to finish off the “New” look for the Town of Wausau, WI tanker.
